Anxiety
Anxiety is a natural human response which can become overwhelming and benefit from therapeutic support.
Anxiety occurs when a normal response to stress or perceived danger becomes persistent, intense, or overwhelming. It can develop into an anxiety disorder that interferes with daily life. It often involves excessive worry, fear, or dread, even in situations that may not seem threatening to others.
People with anxiety may experience racing thoughts, restlessness, difficulty concentrating, and a constant sense of unease. Physical symptoms are also common, such as a rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, muscle tension, stomach issues, or trouble sleeping. These sensations can arise suddenly or build gradually over time.
Anxiety can significantly affect a person’s ability to function, making everyday tasks like going to work, socializing, or making decisions feel daunting. It may lead to avoidance of certain situations, reduced confidence, and a constant state of alertness, impacting both mental and physical well-being.
