Art Therapy
Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses creative expression to explore emotions, reduce stress and improve mental well-being. It involves using art materials like paint, clay or collage to communicate thoughts and feelings that may be hard to express verbally.
Art therapy encourages self-expression through the creative process. By making art, clients can explore inner experiences, gain insight and find new ways to cope with challenges. The focus is on the process rather than the final artwork, promoting reflection and emotional healing.
Art therapy is suitable for people of all ages, including children, teenagers and adults. It can help those experiencing anxiety, trauma, depression, grief or behavioural issues. It is especially useful for individuals who struggle to express themselves through words alone.
In a session, clients are invited to create art in a safe and supportive space. The therapist may offer themes or let the client lead. Afterwards, the artwork is explored together, helping to uncover feelings and thoughts linked to the creative expression.
