Attachment Based Therapy
Attachment-based therapy is a form of psychotherapy rooted in attachment theory. It explores how early relationships with caregivers shape our emotional development and influence current relationships. The therapy aims to heal attachment wounds and build healthier, more secure relational patterns.
The therapy works by creating a safe, trusting relationship between client and therapist. This relationship provides a secure base for exploring past attachment experiences. Through reflection, emotional processing, and relational repair, clients learn to develop healthier ways of connecting and responding to others.
Attachment-based therapy is for individuals struggling with relationship difficulties, trust issues, or unresolved childhood trauma. It can also help those with anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem rooted in early attachment disruptions. It is suitable for both individuals and families.
Sessions often involve talking about early life experiences and exploring how these relate to current feelings or behaviours. The therapist offers empathy and consistency, helping the client feel safe and understood. Over time, this supportive connection fosters healing and more secure attachment patterns.
