Autism
Autism, or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a neurodevelopmental condition which can impact many areas of a person's life. It is not something to be 'cured' but understood and supported.
Autism or ASD is a condition that affects how a person communicates, interacts socially, and experiences the world around them. It is called a "spectrum" because it presents differently in each individual, with a wide range of strengths and challenges.
Common experiences for people with autism may include sensitivity to lights, sounds, or textures, a preference for routine, and difficulty interpreting social cues or understanding unspoken rules in conversation. Some may engage in repetitive behaviours or have intense interests in specific topics, while others may struggle with verbal communication or express themselves in unique ways.
Autism can affect various aspects of daily life, such as building relationships, participating in education or work, and navigating unfamiliar environments. However, with understanding, support, and inclusive spaces, many autistic individuals thrive and bring valuable perspectives, creativity, and focus to the communities they’re part of.
