Binge Eating
Binge Eating is an eating disorder and mental health issue that can impact individuals in different ways. Understanding and addressing it through therapy can lead to improved well-being and quality of life.
Binge Eating is a complex mental health challenge that is characterised by regularly eating large quantities of food in a short period of time, often accompanied by a sense of loss of control. Unlike bulimia, binge eating episodes are not followed by purging behaviours like vomiting or excessive exercise.
People experiencing binge eating may notice they eat unusually large amounts of food, even when not physically hungry, eat very quickly during binges, feel shame, guilt, or distress after overeating, or eat alone to hide the behaviour distress. The specific experiences can vary from person to person, but they often disrupt overall wellbeing.
Binge Eating can interfere with your relationships, work, and overall well-being. It may make it harder to enjoy daily life or manage stress effectively, often leading to emotional and physical health issues, including depression, anxiety, and increased risk of obesity-related conditions.
