Child Mental Health
Mental Health in childhood can be impacted by many different factors, therefore children often benefit from individualised therapeutic support.
Childhood mental health issues refer to a range of emotional, behavioural, and developmental difficulties that affect how children think, feel, and interact with others. These can include anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism spectrum conditions, and trauma-related disorders, among others. They can be caused or impacted by different factors such as environment, physiology, genetics, trauma, abuse, neglect and ACE's (Adverse, Childhood Experiences).
Children may display persistent sadness, extreme fears, trouble concentrating, tantrums, withdrawal, or changes in eating and sleeping patterns. These behaviours often disrupt home, school, and social life. Young children might struggle to express emotions clearly, making it harder to recognise and diagnose early.
Without support, childhood mental health issues can impact learning, relationships, and long-term wellbeing. They may lead to academic difficulties, low self-esteem, and continued mental health challenges into adulthood. Early intervention, family support, and professional care are crucial for promoting resilience and healthy development.
