What Is It?

Chronic fatigue, often referred to as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) or Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), is a complex and long-term medical condition characterized by extreme, persistent tiredness that doesn't improve with rest and isn't directly caused by other medical conditions. The fatigue is often debilitating and can significantly reduce a person’s ability to carry out normal daily activities.

Common Experiences

People with chronic fatigue commonly experience overwhelming exhaustion after minimal effort (called post-exertional malaise), unrefreshing sleep, memory or concentration problems (often called “brain fog”), and physical symptoms like muscle pain, headaches, or dizziness. These symptoms can fluctuate, with some days feeling manageable and others severely limiting.
