Depression
Depression is a mental health concern that often benefits from individualised therapeutic support.
Depression is a common mental health condition characterised by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and a lack of interest or pleasure in daily activities. It affects how a person thinks, feels, and functions, and can range from mild to severe in intensity and vary in duration of episodes.
People experiencing depression often feel constantly tired, struggle with concentration, and may experience changes in appetite, sleep patterns, or self-worth. Common emotional experiences include guilt, irritability, emptiness, and a sense of being overwhelmed or disconnected from others, sometimes accompanied by thoughts of self-harm or suicide.
Depression can significantly impact all areas of life—interfering with work, school, relationships, and daily responsibilities. It may lead to social withdrawal, decreased productivity, and a loss of joy in previously meaningful activities, but with proper support and treatment, many individuals are able to manage symptoms and recover.
