Drama Therapy
Drama therapy is a type of creative psychotherapy that uses theatre techniques to explore personal experiences, emotions and relationships. Through storytelling, role-play and movement, individuals can express themselves in imaginative ways and work through challenges in a supportive environment.
Drama therapy helps people externalise their inner experiences by acting them out. This process can reveal patterns, build insight and foster emotional release. The therapist uses creative exercises to guide clients in exploring their feelings, rehearsing new behaviours and gaining different perspectives.
Drama therapy is suitable for people of all ages, including children, adults and older individuals. It can support those dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, learning difficulties or social challenges, and is especially beneficial for people who express themselves best through action or play.
In a drama therapy session, clients may take part in role-play, improvisation, storytelling or movement exercises. Sessions are tailored to each person's needs and comfort level. The therapist helps clients reflect on their experiences, using the creative process to encourage growth and healing.
