Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a structured, evidence-based approach that focuses on improving emotional connection in relationships. Rooted in attachment theory, EFT helps individuals and couples understand and reshape emotional responses to create secure, supportive and lasting relational bonds.
EFT works by identifying negative patterns that cause disconnection or conflict. Through guided conversations, clients explore underlying emotions and needs. The therapist helps them express vulnerability and respond with empathy, strengthening their emotional bond and creating more secure, fulfilling relationships.
EFT is primarily used with couples but can also support individuals and families. It is helpful for those experiencing relationship difficulties, emotional distance, frequent conflict or unresolved past hurts. EFT is especially effective for people seeking deeper connection and improved communication.
In an EFT session, the therapist helps clients explore emotional patterns and identify triggers. Sessions involve open dialogue, emotional reflection and guided interactions between partners or family members. The goal is to foster emotional safety, mutual understanding and stronger, more responsive relationships.
