Family Therapy
Family therapy is a form of counselling that involves working with families to improve communication, resolve conflicts and strengthen relationships. It views problems as shared, rather than belonging to one person, and encourages collaboration to create healthier family dynamics.
Family therapy explores patterns of interaction, roles and communication styles within the family. The therapist helps members understand each other’s perspectives, uncover underlying issues and develop new ways to relate. The focus is on promoting empathy, support and effective problem-solving together.
Family therapy is suitable for any family facing stress, conflict or major changes. It can help with parenting challenges, divorce, bereavement, mental health concerns or behavioural issues. Families of all shapes and sizes can benefit, including blended, adoptive or extended families.
In a session, the therapist meets with the whole family or certain members. Sessions involve open discussion, guided activities and reflection on relationship patterns. Everyone is encouraged to speak and listen, helping build understanding and cooperation in a respectful and supportive space.
