Gestalt Therapy
Gestalt therapy is a humanistic and experiential form of psychotherapy that focuses on the present moment and personal responsibility. It encourages self-awareness and understanding through exploring thoughts, feelings and behaviours as they occur in the here and now.
Gestalt therapy helps individuals become aware of how they relate to themselves, others and their environment. By focusing on present experiences and using creative techniques, clients learn to recognise patterns, resolve unfinished business and develop a more integrated sense of self.
Gestalt therapy is suitable for people experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues or personal growth challenges. It can benefit those seeking greater self-awareness, emotional expression and clarity. The approach is adaptable for individuals, couples and sometimes used in group therapy settings.
In a session, the therapist may use dialogue, role-play, body awareness or the “empty chair” technique to explore feelings and conflicts. The focus remains on what is happening in the moment, encouraging clients to reflect, express themselves and experiment with new ways of being.
