Histrionic Personality Disorder
Histrionic Personality Disorder is a mental health issue that can impact individuals in different ways. Understanding and addressing it through therapy can lead to improved well-being and quality of life.
Histrionic Personality Disorder (HPD) is a mental health condition characterised by excessive emotionality and a strong need for attention. People with HPD often seek approval and validation, displaying dramatic, flirtatious, or theatrical behaviour to remain the centre of attention.
Individuals with HPD may experience intense discomfort when not being noticed. They often exaggerate emotions, shift emotions rapidly, and use their appearance to draw attention. Their relationships may feel shallow or strained due to their overwhelming need for validation and affirmation.
HPD can lead to unstable personal and professional relationships. The constant need for attention may be exhausting for others and isolating for the individual. Emotional ups and downs may interfere with decision-making, self-image, and long-term stability in everyday functioning.
