Myalgic encephalomyelitis
Myalgic encephalomyelitis is an illness which can significantly impact mental health and therefore may benefit from therapeutic support.
Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), sometimes called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), is a long-term condition that causes extreme tiredness and other symptoms. It’s not just feeling tired; it’s a complex illness that affects energy, thinking, and physical function.
People with ME may feel exhausted after even small activities, struggle with memory or concentration (“brain fog”), experience pain, sleep problems, or dizziness. Symptoms often get worse after exertion, sometimes taking days to recover, which can be very frustrating.
ME can impact daily life, relationships, and emotional wellbeing. Many feel isolated or not believed. While therapy can’t cure ME, it can help manage the emotional strain, offer tools for pacing, and support self-compassion during a challenging journey.
