Glossary
Other Specified Mental Disorders
Some mental health disorders do not fit neatly into specific categories but are still mental health concerns that may require therapeutic support.
Non-specific mental health disorders refer to emotional or psychological distress that doesn’t fit neatly into one diagnostic category. A person might struggle with mood, anxiety, or behaviour without meeting the full criteria for a defined mental health condition.
People may feel low, anxious, overwhelmed, or disconnected, but not know why or how to describe it. They might have trouble coping day to day, feel "not quite right," or worry their difficulties aren’t valid or taken seriously.
This uncertainty can lead to frustration, self-doubt, or feeling lost. Therapy helps by creating space to explore what’s going on, even without a clear label. It supports emotional insight, coping tools, and building confidence in managing life’s challenges.
