Phobias
Phobias are mental health issues that often require therapeutic support, particularly if they begin to impact normal daily functioning.
Phobias are intense, irrational fears of specific objects, situations, or experiences. The fear is often much greater than the actual danger and can trigger strong physical and emotional reactions, even when someone knows the fear isn’t logical.
People with phobias might avoid certain places, activities, or situations entirely. They may feel panic, dizziness, or a racing heart when faced with their fear. Phobias can affect confidence, routines, and limit what someone feels able to do.
Phobias can interfere with everyday life and cause emotional distress. Therapy, especially cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), can help by gently exposing someone to their fear, reducing anxiety over time, and building confidence to regain control and freedom.
