Postnatal Depression
Postnatal Depression is a distressing mental health condition that often requires therapeutic support.
Postnatal depression is a type of depression that can develop after giving birth. It’s more than the “baby blues” and can affect any new parent, causing deep sadness, anxiety, or detachment during what’s expected to be a joyful time.
People may feel overwhelmed, guilty, tearful, or disconnected from their baby. There can be trouble sleeping, eating, or bonding, even with lots of support. Many feel ashamed or fear being judged, which makes asking for help difficult.
Postnatal depression can affect self-esteem, relationships, and emotional wellbeing. Therapy offers a safe space to talk openly, understand what’s happening, and learn coping strategies. With support, recovery is possible, and connection, confidence, and hope can grow again.
