Therapy with Francesca

Sometimes talking is enough. Other times, creativity helps unlock what words can’t reach.

As a qualified counsellor using the arts (MBACP registered), I use an integrative approach which means I believe in supporting people where they are at and not all forms of therapy fit every person all the time. I may use ideas from Gestalt, Transactinal Analysis or Humanistic therapies.

Creative counselling means we’ll be using the arts as a therapeutic approach that integrates, or blends, creativity and counselling.

The creative process can help you access deeper emotions and insights, as well as often being a calmin and mindful activity or a way to bring colour and energy into your world.

It allows you to explore and communicate your thoughts and feelings through non-verbal ways.

When words fail, art speaks.

We’ll explore tools that suit your needs:
  • Art (Drawing & Painting) – Express emotions through colour and form

  • Clay & Collage – Explore your inner world through texture and shape

  • Music & Movement – Reconnect with your body and emotions

  • Creative Writing – Discover your voice and make sense of your story

  • Drama & Storytelling – Step into your narrative and gain clarity

  • Sandtray Therapy – Visualise your thoughts and gain new insights

  • Written Word & Metaphor – Reflect on meaningful texts and themes

Whether we talk, create, or simply sit with what’s present, every session is shaped around you and what you need.

I'll encourage you to use arts for self-reflection and insight, which can lead to personal growth and healing.

By working with art, we can delve into deep feelings in a safe, contained way by putting them out on the page through sounds, or movement; and find coping strategies to calm down or feel stronger.

Creative arts also help teach self acceptance. Just as art isn’t perfect, neither are we. When we’re making, there are no right or wrong answers and this mirrors the idea that in life imperfections are part of being human.

You don’t have to think of yourself as creative to use the arts as a way to express yourself.

I offer a free, informal 20-minute chat by phone or video—so you can ask questions, get a feel for how I work, and decide if we’re the right fit.
