Therapy with Carryn

I offer a safe space, without judgement, where I will listen to you, put myself in your shoes, believe wholeheartedly in your experience, and consider things from your perspective.

I will offer possible connections, open doors, and I may challenge your outlook as we explore your feelings together.

All of this will be at your pace, to achieve your wellbeing goals.

If you feel that you'd like more input than talking therapy usually offers then I can help with practical tips for coping, as well as hypnotherapy, which can be used to get to the bottom of things, and/or to create new thought processes and overwrite old ones.

I work with people who feel anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, or just completely fed up with how things are going. Whether you're dealing with panic, low self-esteem, people pleasing, trauma, grief, or just a general sense of "what’s the point?" I can offer a space where you can pause, breathe and be properly listened to.

Many of the people I work with have almost perfected putting on a brave face. They might look like they’re holding it together on the outside, but underneath there’s exhaustion and self-doubt, not to mention a constant critical inner voice. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. And you don’t have to keep pretending you’re fine.

I'm trained in person-centred counselling, clinical hypnotherapy, and EFT (Tapping) and I am happy to bring in tools from each to suit what you need. I’m particularly good at working with anxiety, and the long-term effects of being emotionally neglected or let down. I have been known to work well with people who hate the idea of therapy but know they probably need it.

My aim is to avoid being stiff or clinical. You'll get a therapist who is a real person, with warmth, honesty, and the occasional bit of humour or well-timed profanity if that’s your thing. The work we do together can be heavy, which isn't always easy, but it can also feel like a relief to finally untangle it all and start to get back to yourself again.

I might not be the right therapist for you if you’re looking for a highly structured, technique-driven approach, or for someone to give advice or instructions. I tend to work best with people who are curious about themselves and willing to engage, who want a reflective space and support in understanding what’s underneath their patterns.
